PASSENGER STATIONS MUST PROVIDE AN EFFICIENT, SAFE AND PLEASANT TRANSITION FROM THE STREET TO THE TRAIN:
Core Design Principles
The functional aspects of passenger station design focus on movement, safety and comfort. Signage and visual landmarks are key aspect of directional navigation. They should be free of extraneous and distracting visual information. Visual clutter and confusion created by advertising, signage, concessions, conduits and service equipment should be minimized or eliminated.
The final goal of passenger station design is to provide guidance, optimize reliability and efficiency, simplify communication, enhance the user experience, unify the system, bring awareness of unique station characteristics and connect the station and city with safety and security.
Principle 1
Passenger station lighting fixtures should be robust energy efficient, easily cleanable, durable and replaceable if damaged.
Principle 2
The LED light sources need to produce high quality lighting – high CRI, uniform color temperature and longevity.
Principle 3
Luminaire testing to assure performance should include temperature testing, vibration testing, list other tests.
